FEBRUARY 14TH, 2012, DAY 2

Second day of the BC Summer School. The morning started with Nicky Hockly's invitation to online IT conferences organized by IATEFL every other Sunday  on itsig.org.co! We then had a general overview of Web 2.0. Our next topic, Word Processor. After writing a "can do" list about things we can do with the software, Nicky asked us to design a postcard on Word and to convert that document into a picture. At first, I thought about using my pdf converter but Nicky suggested a great site: www.zamzar.com. After the coffee break, Nicky started her class about images. She made us try out an engaging activiy: first we had to select a picture out of five on display on the board, then the teacher made us believe that we were standing on the foreground looking at the picture and she asked us to write what we saw off the frame to the right, what we could hear and smell, what object we had picked up from the floor and what yesore we saw to the right hand side. Lunch break. In the afternoon session, Silvia showed us two online applications: pubble and titanpad (the latter is quite useful when having to brainstorm for ideas with a small group!!) Back with Nicklywe learned how to us photofunia, great tool to make Ss describe, make up stories, write mag articles and have fun!! Have  a look at the funny pictures of myself I've created!!!

FEBRUARY 13TH, 2012: DAY 1

Today, Monday 13th February, 2012 I started the Argentina Summer School organized by the British Council in San Isidro, Buenos Aires. I was really looking forward to it, psecially after the welcome dinner that we had the night before and where I met participants and presenters to the course. It was really interesting to meet people who share such a passion for IT and EFL as I do! Anyway, the morning session was started by Nicky Hockly, an interesting and kind expert who wrote the technolgy book I always use!! She started her class with very interesting ice breakers (gropu work with 3 things we had in common, 3 positive adjectives about myself and 3 things I always carry) great ice-breaker! I'm definitely using them for my first day at university!!! Then, Nicky showed us a tool called Wordle, I am really happy I could learn about it and I don't know how come I didn't know about it before!! (Needless to say, I will use this great tool for my classes at university!!). Coffee break, great time to keep on getting to know new people. The second morning session was started by Silvia Rettardi, another authority in the field who introduced a new concept (to most of us , I guess): microblogging! Through the Edmodo we started doing different activities to explore the microblog. Lucnh break, delicious! In the afternoon session we had an insightful talk delevered by Leonor Corradi, the director of the English language Department at the Ministry of Education. Aftr the talk I felt that there ar emany things i can do to help achieve one of the goal of the New Law of Education: enforece the link between schools and universities. Coffee break!! The last session helped me learn how to use blogs and how to open up the blog I am posting right now!! sorry, time is up, I have to publish thisn now!! c.u. tomorrow!!!
